The yearly interview
Three questions, always the same ones, every birthday. Record the audio. In ten years you will have a priceless collection.
The same questions, every year
A short video, on her birthday, with the same five or six questions. On its own it is nothing much. Fifteen years later, with all of them in a row, it is probably the most valuable thing in the whole capsule.
The questions
- How old are you?
- What is your favourite colour?
- What do you want to be when you grow up?
- What is your favourite food?
- Who is your best friend?
- What do you most like doing?
- What do you want to say to yourself when you are grown up?
Rules that make the series work
- The same questions, in the same order, every year. Changing them breaks the comparison.
- Always on the same day, her birthday, so it never depends on a decision.
- Do not correct her and do not push. "I don't know" is a great answer and ages very well.
- A short video, landscape, always. A minute is enough.
- At two, almost nothing will get answered. Record it anyway: it is the first of the series.
Where to keep it
In the capsule, titled "Interview, age X", always the same way. The consistent name is what lets you find them all together and build the sequence later.

A basin of water in the garden
A basin, two cups and a spoon. Twenty minutes of absolute concentration for practically nothing. Film from a distance, without interrupting.
Play
Washable paint and big paper
Brown paper on the floor, poster paint and the whole hand. The mess is the point. Keep the handprint with the date on it.
